Bidirectional power conversion in battery storage systems
Bidirectional power conversion is essential for ensuring the efficient use and adaptation of battery storage systems to various applications. For example, in order to connect DC charging stations to battery storage systems, the voltage level of the battery storage system must be transformed by DC / DC power electronics.
In the case of grid-connected energy storage units, the power electronics must convert the DC voltage of the battery storage system and synchronize with the public AC grid so that the electricity can be fed into the grid. However, in order to charge the battery storage system, it must also be possible to draw energy from the grid via the same device.
If the power electronics are used in mobile battery storage systems to supply AC loads, they must also create a stand-alone grid to which loads can be connected directly.
